Atelopus Frog New Species in Surinamese Rainforest

24 species previously unknown to science found on Suriname’s Lely and Nassau plateaus. Scientists documented 467 species in total during a expedition led by Conservation International in rainforests and swamps about 80 miles southeast of Paramaribo, Suriname. Among the species found: the atelopus frog with purple markings, six types of fish, 12 dung beetles and one ant species. Collection of images from the Suriname Expedition available.
