There are Sites which help you to promote and generate traffic to your blog. By surfing other members sites, displaying banners and textlinks you can earn credits. You can exchange those credits for visitors and even let visitors review and rate your blog. You also have the ability to list your blog in directories.
The real question is if people ever read your blog for real, but it sure generates some extra traffic and you have to view other blogs too which can give you new ideas. Blogmad and Blogexplosion seems to me to be the best of all.
