Favicon also known as a favorites icon, is that little thing in the browser’s URL bar, next to the site’s name in lists of bookmarks and next to the page’s title when you have a tabbed document interface.
Create one yourself, it is not that hard:
- Create an image 16X16 pixels in size. You can also create a 32X32 pixel icon. This will be scaled to size
- Save the image as an ICO file (named “favicon.ico”)
- Upload it to your website. just put the favicon in the root directory of your site
- Your web pages need to include the following lines of code between the <head> and </head> tags:
<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”/favicon.ico” type=”image/ico” />
