According to the coming book “Beyond Capricorn” by Peter Trickett, Portuguese adventurers discovered Australia. They came to New Zealand and Australia 250 years before Captain Cook. Author and Historian Trickett found a 16th century maritime map eight years ago. This maritime map was part of a reproduction of the Vallard Atlas (Dieppe maps) made by French cartographers in 1547 based on Portuguese charts. The Atlas represented the known world at that time. He know claims in his book that Christopher de Mendonca found Botany Bay in 1522.
