Sophos has published a report on the top twelve spam relaying countries. The US was on top. It was closely followed by China. The Vatican has emerged as a source of spam traffic too. According to Paul Ducklin of Sophos an unusually high quantity spam has been determined from the Vatican and Antarctica.
In many cases spam is sent by other computers, without knowledge of the owner. Ducklin thinks that also the Vaticaan has become a victim. Ducklin attributes the problems to the installation of Trojan horses on guest computers.
